Ruth Roman, born in Lynn Massachusetts to Lithuanian-Jewish Mary Pauline Gold and Abraham Roman Abraham Roman, was the 3rd daughter in their family. When her father passed away as a Carnival barker when Ruth was just an infant and she was forced to support the family working both as a cleaner and a server. Ruth was a student and grew up in poverty within Boston Massachusetts the tenement districts. She left school after two years in order to study acting. It was not without challenges. When she was offered a job at New York as a model for a magazine that dealt with detectives, she had a difficult time trying to secure work for stage. When she was employed as a hat-check girl in a nightclub, she resigned and went back to Boston. In the New England Repertory Company was the first position she held as an actor who was steady. Earned money doing shifts during the day, working as an Usherette. She has also been accepted into Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she specialized in drama.
